The mystery over the content of the now famous “Katerinaki” cocktail still hangs in the air. The soundtrack established years ago by Damianos has rock influences; however, conditions necessitate that the DJ at Gallery upstairs has more of a house outlook. The tables outside are right on the seafront and the breeze refreshes your mood as well as its fruity cocktails.

A unique spot for people watching at the beginning of Enoplon Dynameon Str., this small café-bar sends out positive vibes with mainstream music. In winter and summer, even when the Chora’s alleyways become desolate, it remains an open oasis.

Nikos Biour’s team in partnership with the Athenian haunt has kept to the entertainment recipe at this club located at the beginning of Matogianni. People gather mainly inside after 11, and dancing continues until well into the early hours.

In Little Venice, always full to overflowing, there is no livelier crowd than the patrons of the only bar in history built at a lower level than the customers… Its mixologists can’t keep up with the cocktails which are sometimes used for water-fights, while Melpo, the priestess of the decks plays everything and brings the crowd to delirium. From 70s to latin and La Vita Loca to Protopsalti and Rouvas, If you don’t go to Caprice it’s as if you’ve never been to Mykonos.

Jackie O’s neighbor is another reason to go to the edge of the Chora. Minimal décor and balanced music which combines mainstream hits with favourite oldies. People from both bars meet and mingle outside making the night more interesting since this is where the drag show is performed.

Astra tells the bohemian story of the island. The secret of its success lies in the firm character kept by Babis and Omiros from 1987 to the present. The music is always hip – the latest and the best house in town – but also rock influences. Special events, like the appearances by Omiros’ band “Ichiroteroi” and fashion evenings make you come back again and again. Among its patrons you’ll find Greek and foreign showbiz personalities so keep your eyes peeled.

The recipe is known to the only heir of one of Kolonaki’s most successful haunts. Rock music lovers still remember the bar-restaurant which broke all the rules of Athenian nightlife and has now come to apply everything it learnt at night school on sinful Mykonos and, specifically on Agia Kyriaki Square where the crowds have always gathered. Old Pierro’s has moved right next door to allow for more rock ‘n’ roll moments.

An alternative entertainment option found its place on Mykonos’s nightlife panel, somewhat reminiscent of a ’30s cabaret. The purple bar-café, as it’s known, with high baroque sofas in fuchsia and silver welcome all those prepared for non-stop partying to music combining jazz sounds with modern influences. The décor is equally eccentric, with doll-like tables reminiscent of a French boudoir, light fittings with fringes and feathers.

Walking along Enoplon Dynameon Str. you will realize you are approaching the “queen” of entertainment by the crush outside and around it. Champagne has never had such an honorary position with a standing crowd. Tables outside and a strong beat inside with absolute dance mixes for thirty-somethings who know how to have a good time. The Champagne Bar specializes in everything connected to the sparkling wine.
