Picturesque and calm with the island’s coldest waters, Fokos is not as quiet as it was some years ago, but it remains one of Mykonos’ untouched treasures. With a landscape which differs greatly from the Cycladic norm, it holds the scepter on the island’s eastern side. Even though buses don’t reach here it still attracts quite a crowd.
The locale: You will find yourself amongst people who have experienced the island’s cosmopolitan side and come here for tranquility. It is preferred by the island’s permanent residents and holiday home owners who coexist harmoniously with groups of artists. The traditional taverna, of the same name, which operates here offers unique home-cooked flavours (Fokos, tel. 6945 828561). The beach is quite seriously affected by north winds.
