Nautical symbols combined with diamonds in vibrant colours: a new collection by uncompromising jewelry designer Nikos Koulis.

Ships, anchors and nautical symbols ornamented with coloured diamonds set the tone of the new collection by Nikos Koulis which currently adorns the concept store of the Belvedere hotel on Mykonos. “Our collaboration began very naturally”, notes the designer who always selects off centre spaces – such as his showroom in the centre of Athens and a few carefully selected points of sales abroad - to display his collections. The idea for this collection was inspired by a visit to the Ecclesiastical Museum of Patmos where he was impressed by a pair of earrings in the shape of a boat. “My aim was to add a “rock and roll” touch to traditional motifs”, he explains. “I envisaged this element as being more fun, more colourful and therefore decided to avoid dark colours”. This is how these jewels in blue, yellow, pink and bright brown diamonds came to be; the most characteristic piece is a ring with a detachable pin whose diamond plaque can be replaced by another in a different colour. For his sophisticated corner in the Belvedere the designer has chosen signature items which express his avant-garde sense of style.
